A note from the Superintendent:
Please take the time to view the video from our state superintendent (posted below) and read the “What Families Need to Know” flyer. These are in reference to last year’s testing results. The results are about to be received by Oklahoma school districts and then distributed to students after any problems with the data have been resolved. There have been changes in expectations and standards that will affect how students are rated as to performance. These performance ratings cannot be directly compared to any test score in the past. These new scores will become a new baseline for future analysis. The bar has been raised. This will result in many students receiving a lower rating than in the past.
Oklahoma’s standards are now equal to national standards. Future year’s testing can be compared to this baseline data and be used to guide student instruction. As the years go by we will examine this data, along with much more that will be collected in the classrooms to determine the best instructional strategies for Bethel students. Testing does not measure everything that matters in school. These test scores do not mean students performed in a worse manner or that teachers did not teach. It is a change in perception. Please bear with us in this endeavor and change. I believe it will benefit Bethel students in the long run. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call, email or come by. Your input is valued and welcome.
